Over the past year or so we have seen the emergence of a series of new clubs in the Dupont area including Current, Midtown and most recently, Spot. However, we haven’t seen the same trend in the quality of Dupont Circle bars. Consequently, when the question is asked, “Do you want to grab a drink before we head out?” there isn’t really a sufficient answer. It seems an odd proposition at best, to grab a Bud at Lucky Bar before heading out to Current Lounge. With the launch of Bar Dupont, Dupont Circle finally has a bar suitable for a pre-club drink in the area.

We have heard some negative things about the service at Bar Dupont but two visits have both resulted in competent, professional service from our perspective.
Decor – A-
Bar Dupont has a contemporary, hip feel to it. There is ample indoor lounge-style seating and a fair-sized patio that allows you to comfortable look over the Circle and throngs of people walking around one of the most populated areas in DC at night.
Feel – A
Bar Dupont offers a scene that is several steps up from most of the other bars in the area. Unlike Lucky Bar or Sign of the Whale, where you are going to see a lot of cargo shorts and flip-flops, at Bar Dupont you are going to see a crowd that has actually put a modicum of effort into getting ready to go out. It is the perfect destination to meet friends before heading out on a weekend evening or for a quiet drink with a special person on a weekday evening (particularly if the weather is good).

I went to Bar Dupont and it was great! My drinks were good and I enjoyed the atmosphere. I wrote a great Examiner article highlighting the place check it out here
