Tuscana Lounge

We initially heard from Tuscana back in the Fall when they were launching but never made it over so a couple of weeks back we heard that a local promoter and friend was having a birthday party at the venue so we decided to check it out.

Cost – $$

Service – A-
Straight into the club and then a drink within 5 minutes of waiting at the bar. A good first way to get a positive impression kicked-off.

Food – ?

Design – B+
Tuscana is a pretty large space that has a solid aesthetic throughout.  I wouldn’t say it is quite top-tier but certainly not far behind.

Feel – C+
The issue I have with larger spaces like Tuscana is that there is no rhyme or reason to the crowd.  When you have a large space you have to fill it up and what ends up happening is you get a really disjointed crowd that doesn’t have a clear identity.  There may be a strong South Asian contingent (from what I hear) in the venue but on the night we visited it was a completely mixed bag.  That may be good for some but it’s not really my cup of tea.  That being said the place was completely packed and it seemed like everyone was having a great time.

Tuscana Lounge is located at 1350 Eye Street, NW.

My sister and I rsvp’d on the internet for an event on Saturday March 7 we both recv’d confirmations so we had no idea that this is just a marketing skam to get people to come out and force to pay $20 at the door. We both were dressed for this special event and paid $30 for valet. When we got up to the door it was a rude young lady that said no we were not on the list and it was nothing she could do. We were both shocked at the manner at which we were treated. This clearly should have been pointed out to a manager instead she just look at us like move get out of line. We have never been so humilated. We actually had been to Tuscana West before to attend an event during the Innauguration with no problems. One suggestion: Can the people that have this promotional events handle the door instead of putting young girls on the door that have no type of tact or confidence to run an event without being intimated by attractive women.

Though I felt like I left my days of “celebrity first” club lines, back in LA., got the feeling that this was the ‘modus operandi’ at Tuscana. Once inside, however, you won’t see such a collection of “the beautiful people” in all of DC. The drinks are great, though a bit expensive. The service could stand a little attitude adjustment as well. All in all, Tuscana is worth the parking nightmare or the exorbitant valet fees. Just be on the top of your game if you want to get in without any hassle or delay.
