The Space DC
The Space is a relatively new venue in DC but a step in an exciting new direction for the area. It has been developed in a 100-year-old carriage house in the Shaw area and was most previously a car repair shop. Now, it is a slick and sophisticated lounge with an upstairs cigar bar as well as a members program that you may want to take advantage of before the place blows up.
Cost – $$
Service – A
Top-notch – the doormen are cool as are the bartenders. The place is still young and trying to develop a patron-base, but they are doing it the right way by opening their arms to the community.
Food – ?
I’m not entirely sure if they serve food here.
Decor – A
It’s hard to believe that The Space used to be a car repair shop because it has been designed and furnished so elegantly. Its modern, somewhat industrial vibe is evident from the moment you walk in and exudes throughout the venue. The outdoor deck should quickly help propel The Space to star status in DC once it starts to warm up a bit.
Feel – A-
The Space is definitely a new type of venue in the DC area – it seems like far more of a lower-east side Manhattan type venue than your typical DC venue and that is a good thing. I don’t think many people know about it yet so the crowd is still a bit edgy – the venue attracts some of the more artistic, cultured denizens of DC who come to enjoy live music and talented DJs.
The Space is located at 903 N ST. NW. They can be reached at 202.332.5508.
Space was very cool. Definitely a place to check out.
“Oh totally!”
