Best Pizza in DC

DC is clearly not known for having the best pizza in the United States. That title would go to either Chicago or New York depending on who you are talking to and what their pizza predilection is like. That being said, there are definitely a handful of places to get great pizza in DC and I’m a big fattie so with that being said here are our picks for where to get the best pizza in Washington, DC:

Pines of Rome – The best white pizza I have ever eaten bar none. Order it as an appetizer or as a main course. Consider ordering it as both an appetizer and a main course. Just go try it.

Vace Italian Deli – There are a few different locations but the one I frequent is in Cleveland Park. There isn’t a place to sit but they do slices and pies for carry out so if you’re in the neighborhood drop by. Vace offers some of the freshest ingredients in their pizza.

2 Amys – For some reason, 2 Amys automatically pops into people’s heads when they talk about the best pizza in DC. I think it is pretty good but if I’m purely looking for good pizza then there are probably better options on this list. That being said, 2 Amys has the added benefit of a pretty fun, lively ambiance so it is a good option if you’re looking to eat out.

Italian Pizza Kitchen – A relative newcomer to the area, Italian Pizza Kitchen is hidden away in the North Cleveland Park / Van Ness section of Northwest, DC. It probably isn’t worth the trip up but if you happen to live in this area you definitely want to try it out.

Baffetto – This is one of Dean’s favorite places and for good reason: they offer great pies with mouth watering toppings. I find it peculiar that they have what appear to be several teenage Eastern European girls working at the place after 2PM but that doesn’t detract from the fact that they offer some of the best pizza in DC.

I am surprised that you could have a list like this without mentioning Red Rocks or Comet Ping Pong. Both use fresh, local, high quality ingredients and are pretty universally recognized as having awesome pizza.

At the same time I’ve barely heard of Baffetto, Italian Pizza Kitchen or Pines of Rome. City paper doesn’t seem to think much of Baffetto either.

I’ve never tried Red Rocks but I’ll add it to my list.

On Comet – I definitely like the venue but I wasn’t crazy about the pizza. I’ll try again.

Hey Jamie – I stand by Baffetto lol! We have heard the lackluster comments too but the Baffetto Special has never let me down.

[…] B+ They make a delicious Italian-style stone oven pizza with fresh ingredients, which is one of the best in DC and certainly the best in Dupont […]
