Current Boutique’s Fashion Show at Guarapo

Fashion is not the first thing that springs to mind when people talk about the Nation’s Capital. Politics and government, yes. International diversity and summer interns, possibly. . .but fashion?

There is a sub-culture in DC working to change the perception of DC as a fashion-starved town and at its center is the DC Fashionista Group, which brings together fashion-savvy locals and residents for various events. The DC Fashionista Group was instrumental in helping to produce and promote Current Boutique’s first annual fashion show, which took place over at Guarapo in Arlington last Thursday.

The event featured models from DC, Maryland and Virginia who were dressed in a blend of modern styles picked by Current Boutique owner Carmen Lopez and Fashion Stylist Anna Birdsall. Proceeds from the fashion show benefited the DC Fashionista Foundation, a scholarship fund for emerging young artists and designers.

The event was MC’d by Pamela Sorensen of Pamela’s Punch and features a live performance by locals Mo Condo and DC Double 07.

The fashion show was heaps of fun and we’re happy to be able to share some of the sights and sounds of the event with you.
