Admittedly, I’m probably not the best person to put together a list of hip hop clubs in DC but I recently was asked the question and found myself struggling to come up with a decent list so I figured this would be a good opportunity to post something and see what sort of feedback is out there.
Shadow Room - Thursday is all hip hop. The other nights, there is more of a blend of Top 40 and Hip Hop. The good thing about Shadow Room is the quality of venue and crowd.
Club Modern – Modern has been a pretty sustainable venue on M Street in Georgetown despite the fact that it doesn’t appeal to the typical Georgetown crowd. It has a relatively upscale feel and offers a good mix of Hip Hop and funk.
Midtown Lounge – They have Hip Hop / Top 40 nights on occasion (check their site to be sure) and Midtown Lounge is definitely on the short list of hot DC clubs currently.
The Muse Lounge - The hottest go go dancers in DC make this a good choice for Hip Hop. If you can’t dance at least you can watch.

On the weekends, some other great hip-hop spots to go to are:
Mondays: Fly Lounge
Tuesdays: Lotus
Thursdays: The Park, Lotus
Fridays: Love, Indulj
Saturday: The Park, Mai Thai, Tuscana West, Republic

Although not a huge hip hop room, Josephines’ Gold Room definitely has good beats that will get you 2 stepping and grinding!
