Best Asian Restaurants in DC

Nationally, I would say that DC doesn’t compare favorably to New York, San Francisco or Los Angeles when it comes to high quality Asian cuisine.  In fact, for years now you’ve had to go outside of DC to Annandale or Falls Church to get good Asian food.  The last few years have seen a few new places crop up so I figured it was time to come up with a list of best asian restaurants in Washington, DC.

DC NoodlesDC Noodles has grown to be my favorite restaurant in the U Street area.  I love everything about the place: the service, cuisine and decor are all just top-notch.  If I lived in the area I would probably eat there at least once per week.

Sushi Taro – They are normally considered the best sushi restaurant in DC.

Rice Restaurant – If I am in the mood for a laid back evening with friends in the U Street area, I’d probably go to DC Noodles.  However if I wanted something a little bit sexier with a more expansive menu I would definitely head over to Rice.

The Regent – Before Rice and DC Noodles opened up, my favorite spot for Asian cuisine in DC was The Regent (or Regent Thai as it is sometimes referred).  The restaurant is a little more centrally located and also has outdoor seating.

Try some carryout from Thai X-ing on 5th & Florida. It’s the best thai in DC. http://www.thaix-ing.com/

I agree with you about DC Noodles. It’s my current fave. Why is it so freaking good?!? For affordable Japanese, we go to Sakana on 21st and P (west of the circle). I do love Sushi Taro but it’s gotten so expensive. I like Thai X-ing too (good mention Alex), but it’s incredibly slow. If you’re really hungry and want food fast, try Thai Tanic on 14th and Rhode Island.
